Biography

Davit Nava was born in 1987 in Cuernavaca, Mexico. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain).

Nava also studied Sustainable Forest Management at the University of Helsinki (Finland), Precipitation of Heavy Metals from Wastewater at Korea University (South Korea) and Sustainability Leadership at Harvard University (USA).

Since 1999, at the age of 12, he has been a change agent seeking to encourage people in the safeguarding of nature. That year, he co-founded an environmental project to save Mexican sea turtles from extinction. After 7 years of work, this youth project spread awareness to a generation of over 5,000 students in Mexico, but most importantly, it showed that dreams can be achieved. In this case, one dream and two 12 year-old kids helped more than 21,000 hatchlings reach the sea.

Davit Nava’s work focuses on showing the beauty of nature by creating sustainable art that seeks to raise public awareness on environmental issues.

The choice of materials are predominantly post-use and sustainable. Each piece seeks to transmit simultaneously two messages:

– Say no to taxidermy. No life form should die for the desire of humans to enjoy its beauty

– Nature’s beauty has a positive impact on our daily life and is essential for our inner harmony and conscience
